Children’s Services
We believe that giving young people the best start in life is the surest way both of helping individuals achieve their individual potential and building a cohesive and healthy community as a whole.
We regard services for young people, from promoting the highest standards of personal care to supporting social inclusion and opportunities for education, leisure, sport etc. as being of paramount importance. We have experience working with children across a wide range of conditions - including for example:
- Autistic spectrum
- Sensory impairment / dual sensory impairment
- Brain injuries
- Spinal injuries
- Severe and partial physical disabilities
- Profound and minor learning difficulties
|
- Cerebral palsy
- Challenging behaviour
- Substance abuse
- Terminal illness
- Coping with challenging social environments or unstable family life

Children’s Services (continued)
We also work with families to provide supported access and contact with children, to support opportunities for education and social activities and to support children to prevent social exclusion. We tailor our service to each individual to ensure that the abilities they have are maintained and utilised, and the areas where assistance is required are covered with minimal intrusion into the daily life of the Service User and their social and family network.
Our services aim to treat every person as an individual, with needs, which may differ from those of other people with a superficially similar condition. So although we have guidelines and procedures for children with autism for example, the service still needs to be tailored within these guidelines to meet the needs of the child not just the condition. Each person's needs are considered individually.
Children’s Services (continued)
We manage care for children and young people on behalf of local authorities across the UK. We also have a substantial private client base covering this service. These services cover children with profound mental health conditions, physical disabilities or learning difficulties who will need assistance with nearly every aspect of daily living. We also work with individuals with a minor condition who may be able to function adequately in the vast majority of their daily living with support, and with families to provide respite care.
We understand from our experience that above all we must work in partnership with all stakeholders to provide a safe environment in which individually tailored care, education, encouragement and positive therapies can help each child to develop a range of skills and maximise their potential. The outcome will be to minimise the need for support and ideally to work towards the safe withdrawal of service or the smooth transition to adult services when the time arises.
The principle of our service is to respect young peoples wishes, to support and promote independence, choice, dignity and opportunity and to provide a developmental service that evolves in line with the Service User’s own needs and abilities.
