Personal Care
The Facts
Every year thousands more people go into residential and nursing care because
they are unable to be cared for by family or friends:
- 30% of households have one person living alone (that´s 7 million households)
- 4.1m people over the age of 50 live alone
- 55% of people over 50 years old do not have a living relative within a 1/2 hour journey time
- 14% of all households are single pensioners
What is it?
Our Personal care services provide additional support for those service users who may be more dependent
on help to enable them to stay living in their own home. It may be that the individual requires help with
activities such as bathing, toiletry, getting up/out of bed, etc., all of which will help aid personal
hygiene and provide the assistance to remain mobile and as independent as possible.
Our Objective
To ensure that our service users have all the personal assistance they requiring in helping
them to remain independent as they can in the safety and comfort of their own home.
How can we help?
Personal Care may cover a range of activities where we are able to provide support, for example:
- Bathing – encouragement of service users to bath themselves, helping them in and out of the

- Toiletry – providing assistance to and from the toilet, catheter care and colostomy care
if required.
- Rise/Put-to-bed – assistance with getting up and out of bed, help with making the bed,
